On 6th January 2021, the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Air Conditioners above 65 kW) Determination 2020 (the 2020 Determination) was registered. It comes into force in Australia from 1 April 2022.
The 2020 Determination introduces minimum energy performance standards ( MEPS) for air conditioners greater than 65 kW. It also requires registrants to provide Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) information when registering models of these products.
From 1 April 2022, registrants who supply or import air conditioners covered by the 2020 Determination must register all models of their products with the GEMS Regulator through the Energy Rating Product Registration System.
